Tea and Caffeine
All tea comes from the young leaves of the camellia sinensis bush and contains caffeine. Contrary to what many people believe, tea contains substantially less caffeine per cup than coffee. On a chemical basis, the type of caffeine found in tea and coffee differ; caffeine in tea has a shorter effect than coffee. Black, Oolong, and Green teas have varying amounts of caffeine. Historically, tea has been celebrated for its ability to produce a relaxed, yet alert state in the drinker.
