A Brief History of Cardullo's Gourmet Shoppe
In 1950 Cardullo’s was opened at its present location on Six Brattle Street, the concept of Frank N. Cardullo. He was a visionary who was ahead of his time. In 1961 the Shoppe was doubled in size and has remained the same since. Cardullo’s philosophy was, as it is today, to provide the customer with the finest of fancy and specialty foods, great beverages and quality deli products and sandwiches. Since its opening, Cardullo’s has been a family run business with Mrs. Cardullo taking an active part in the business. The Shoppe is now owned and operated by Frances Cardullo. It is her intention to see the Shoppe passed onto a third generation Cardullo and remain an important part of the culture of Harvard Square. The product selection has "evolved" over the years to its present status which includes over 6000 inventory items. In 1988 fine wines and a great variety of imported and domestic malt beverages were added to complement the food selections. Cardullo’s is constantly searching for new and exciting food products that are consistent with the Shoppe standards, the health consciousness of our times and, most importantly, the desires of our customers.
Frank N. Cardullo 1915-1997 "It was my father who was the visionary for Cardullo's. Of all his businesses Cardullo's was his favorite. Here he was able to use his artistic talent to search out the unique items that Cardullo's is famous for."
